Location: The site is based at the world renowned Red Kite Centre at Gigrin Farm, South Street, Rhayader, Powys, LD6 5BL

From Rhayader town centre, take the A470 towards Builth Wells. The site is approx. 500 yds on the left – look for the Red Kite Centre and NWDA signs.

Gigrin Farm is a family run upland sheep farm of approximately 200 acres, owned and farmed by Chris Powell, and Mrs Lena Powell. The land is 700 feet rising to 1200 above sea level giving us wonderful views of the Wye and Elan valleys here in mid-Wales. Gigrin became the Official Red Kite Feeding Station in the winter 1992/93 following a request from the RSPB who had witnessed the late Mr Powell feeding the kites as and when food(rabbit) was available.

The Site is a short walk from the local village which has several pubs, a Chinese and Indian restaurant and a local swimming pool, it is also a short drive to the Elan Valley tourist information centre and the spectacular dams and reservoirs.

Below are some pictures taken whilst staying at Gigrin farm. Some pictures are taken on site while some are a short distance away traveling around the Elan Valley. This really is a beautiful area with lots of lovely walks you can do. The Village is only a small walk from the site.
